Failed Stealth Check

I have nothing really to report or say, but I was looking at the old blog and she seemed so sad and lonely. She kept giving me those eyes that said “I know you never really cared for me, but how ’bout a post, once more? For old time’s sake?”

How can I say no to a plea like that?

So, here I am, returning to an old lover out of habit rather than passion. I know that when I’m done, we’ll both feel the worse for it as well. I’m not sure if a blog can be filled with self-loathing, but I have faith that if any blog could do it, it would be mine. I can imagine it, staring itself in its wiki-stained mirror, tears rolling down its screen asking itself “Why do I let him hurt me like this?”

God, that would be awesome to watch.

On today’s very special episode we learn that Pianos are Heavy…

So the move went pretty well. Under two hours to load the truck in StL and just over two hours to unload it in KC. Thanks to Maria, Tracy, Amy, Romine, Ed, Buck, and Aaron for all the help! A special thanks to Mr. Lenon and Scott for braving the heat of the truck to help fill space with boxes. Who knew that a 26′ truck would just barely fit everything Susie and I own? Well, I did… which is why Susie and I had a disagreement as to the size of the truck… in the end, Susie was wrong, but right… her insistance on a 24′ truck got us a 26′ truck at the 24′ price… not too shabby.

Exhausted from the move and drive across the state (not to mention the poorly planned Corey and Josh White Castle run at 2:30 am on Friday night) I didn’t take the moving truck back on Saturday night. Sunday morning, Darwin awoke me at 7:30 to let me know that food would be appreciated. It was at this time that I discovered a welcome gift from one of my neighbors… the Uhaul truck had been “tagged” by some hooligan in the night… awesome. I mean, what was I thinking leaving a giant untagged vertical surface just sitting on the side of the street? This was entirely my own fault.

I should have taken a picture of it, but I was too pissed… Susie and I spent about an hour trying to scrub it off with a scouring sponge… something that worked okay, but was laborious. Then I went to Home Depot and bought some “Graffitti Remover”… that shit is “da bomb”. Came right off.

Lessons Learned:

  1. Follow your instincts to return the damned truck, exhaustion be damned!
  2. Exhaust all chemical solutions before resulting to brute force.
  3. Susie is cute in a bikini top scrubbing spray paint off of things.
  4. Don’t wake Susie up to complain that some idiot spray painted the rental truck.

In all, a very illuminating weekend.

Upcoming Plans: Unpacking! Also: Moving the parental units to their new home!

We got one!!

Our new home…

In all honesty, we bought it cause it matches Susie’s car…

But it is awful boss inside.

Okay… now I’m terrified.

Well… change is a good thing, right?

Susie accepted a job today… she starts on July 9th. I now have a little over a month left in St. Louis. So little to do and so much time to do it in… wait. Strike that… reverse it.

This is huge and scary. I knew I wouldn’t be ready when the time came and even that didn’t prepare me for this sinking feeling. Even moving to St. Louis from Kirksville didn’t feel this way… I didn’t feel settled in the ‘Ville… it was meant to be temporary. This move definitely feels more like an uprooting. I’m leaving old friends and new family behind. I really have grown to love St. Louis over the years and can’t imagine living elsewhere… so this really is going to be a big change. It does have elements of excitement, true, but I think shock is really taking precedence right now.

It’s all too surreal right now.

I think it brings out my eyes…

joshisgettingmarried.jpgMy older brother sure thinks he is funny.

Personally, I’m not sure if I can, in good conscience, wear white. I mean, it is my second wedding… It’s pretty heard to convince people that I’m still the pristine bride I was last time.

But I do look handsome, don’t I?
